ARMED
SERVICE EDITIONS Ces petits livres de poches sont édités à partir de 1943 par une association à but non lucratif appellée : ARMED SERVICE EDITIONS (ASE). Ils sont réservés aux forces armées stationnées en outre mer et distribués dans les casernements, les hôpitaux. Le numéro de série (S - 33) est placé en haut à gauche et permet de connaître la date de parution du livre. Une lettre de l' alphabet différente est utilisée, en commançant par la lettre A pour les éditions du mois de septembre 1943. La lettre A indique une édition de septembre 1943 et la lettre W correspond à septembre 1945, date de la fin du premier programme ASE. La première page porte la reproduction de la couverture de l' édition commerciale, rendue libre de droit dans le cadre de ce programme pour la distraction des troupes. 1322 titres différents ont été édités entre 1943 et 1947. A partir de mai 1945, les livres seront numérotés de 655 à 1322 et édités au rythme moyen de 40 titres par mois. Ici un exemplaire datant de mars 1945 code S33.THE YEARLING. Et un autre datant de septembe 1945 code 849. BEDFORD VILLAGE. |
